Screenshot from a video game, showing Kratos (muscled man in greecian armor) standing next to a large brown bear. They both strike a powerful pose.
A powerful moment in God of War Ragnarök.

I finished up God of War Ragnarök (Santa Monica Studio). I’m so impressed with this game and its narrative. Kratos and Atreus go on such an amazing journey both together and apart from each other, each of them growing and changing along the way. Kratos has softened and discovered a sense of community, while accepting leadership and responsibility for the friends and allies he’s made. Atreus has matured significantly, discovering the secrets of his destiny and learning to draw from both his Grecian and Giant heritage, which empowers him to choose his own future.

Firewatch (developed by Campo Santo)

Firewatch (Campo Santo) is a beautifully melancholy adventure game. After a short prelude about loosing connection with his wife to early onset dementia,  Henry takes up a post as a fire lookout in Shoshone National Forest with his only contact being with his supervisor Delilah via radio. As the player navigates the beautiful forrest settings, they learn about other lookouts who left notes in various drop boxes and uncover a mystery amid the trees.
